ESL Supplementary Classes



Advanced Grammar
This course will cover the rules of grammar governing the parts of speech and their functions. There will be a presentation of the verb tenses and their use. Regular and irregular verbs will be explained as well as gerunds, infinitives, and participles. The modals and moods will be presented and contrasted with auxiliary verbs. Noun clauses, adjective clauses, adverb clauses, and their phrasal forms will be studied. In every session, practice exercises will be done and corrected in class. Some practice exercises will be assigned for homework.

Citizenship

This course will help students gain an understanding of the process to achieve U.S. citizenship.Students will develop the knowledge, skills, and the confidence necessary to complete the naturalization process and pass the oral interview. In addition, the knowledge obtained from the course about U.S. History, Government, and the political process will allow students to acquire the abilities to participate fully as citizens and community members.

Finally, classroom activities will help students enhance their english reading, writing,listening, and speaking skills.

Prerequisite: Students must be at Beginning High,Intermediate or Advanced level. Also, they must have been legal residents of the U.S. for at least 3 years (or 1 year if married to a U.S. citizen)

Multilevel ESL
This class integrates the four language skills:listening, speaking, reading and writing as well as focus on pronunciation and vocabulary development. The methodology used is based on the blended instructional approach which combines teacher instruction with computer language learning instruction. The instructor uses diverse learning strategies to engage students during the lessons and they are geared towards the various learning styles.
